Abstract: This paper focuses on two Instagram reels produced by two translocal digital food influencers. By adopting a social semiotic perspective on interculturality and diasporic imagination, the multimodal discourse analysis of the reels explores how multilingual and multimodal resources were strategically mobilized when introducing food content to reveal patterns of (non)sharedness in semiotic knowledge to stimulate or downplay interculturality. This study contributes to a new understanding of interculturality in the context of digital media and highlights the potential use of social media in giving (underrepresented) communities a voice to promote values of social inclusion.
