Abstract: The casino workforce faces some unique issues (e.g. emotionally fluctuating gamblers) while sharing common features with other hospitality sectors. This study aims to investigate the antecedents of casino dealers’ work stress and the relevant outcomes. We used data collected from 590 casino dealers working for Macao’s six gaming operators for structural equation modelling analysis. The results validated that job insecurity and work-to-family conflict are two main antecedents of work stress among casino dealers, which in turn generate burnout and depression. Job mobility has a negative moderating effect on the relationship between work stress and burnout. This study draws attention to the health outcomes of work stress and the moderating effect of job mobility on the negative outcomes of work stress.
