约束B原则与代词的句内指称

Abstract

本文讨论经典约束理论在解释具体语言事实时所遇到的问题,然后对其做出局部修正,主要观点是约束 A 原则和 B 原则运作的层次不尽相同,所以不能用同一个标准来替反身代词和代词的局部约束域(local binding domain)下定义。反身代词的局部约束域应该按论元结构(argument structure)来定义,即取决于最小主谓结构中的主语;而代词不受约束的局部区域应该用题元结构(thematic structure)来定义,即取决于同一题元结构中的同谓题元(co-theta-role)。简单地说,就是反身代词如果有一个受 AGR 允准的主语,其不受约束的局部语域就必须按该主语来定义,而代词性成分则不受同谓题元名词性成分的约束。 It is proposed in this paper that the intra-sentential reference of pronouns be resolved at the thematic structure and that the right characterization of Binding Principle B should be that pronouns cannot be bound by a nominal hearing a co-theta-role. It is shown that the revised Binding Principe B can capture not only the binding facts discussed in Chomsky (1981), but also those which the classic Binding Principle B fials to account for.
