The system consists of two gain-switched Fabry-Pérot laser diodes, a bidirectional erbium-doped fiber amplifier, and a tunable optical filter and a coupler. The optical pulses generated exhibits a good stability, a high side-mode suppression ratio of more than 30 dB over a wide wavelength tuning range of 41 nm.
