| Title: | Responses of green innovation to carbon emission policies in China's construction industry | Authors: | Zhang, W Hsu, SC Lee, CJ Wei, HH |
Issue Date: | 1-Jun-2025 | Source: | Resources, conservation and recycling, 1 June 2025, v. 219, 108326 | Abstract: | Under the global trend of carbon peak and neutrality, the effectiveness of the carbon emission in construction industry remains unverified. This research investigates the impact of carbon emission policies on green innovation in the construction industry. Utilizing a multi-period Difference-in-Differences (DID) model, this study analyzes data on the quantity and quality of green innovation patents. Findings indicate that carbon peaking policies significantly enhance both the quality and quantity of green innovations, particularly in fossil fuel decarbonization and pollution control. The analysis reveals that the policy's short-term effects are stable and do not exhibit lagging impacts. This study provides a framework for assessing the influence of carbon emission policies on green innovation, aiding in the formulation of effective carbon emission strategies tailored to the industrial context. | Keywords: | Carbon Emission Policy Carbon Neutrality Carbon Peaking Construction Industry Green Innovation Multi-Period DID |
