Singapore: Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd, 2022 | Abstract: | Intermetallic-precipitation-strengthened steels have been widely used in various engineering applications due to their excellent mechanical properties at room and elevated temperatures as well as good welding performance. In this chapter, we highlight the recent advances and progress in the development and understanding several classes of intermetallic-precipitation-strengthened steels. Particularly, the synergistic alloying effects and precipitation mechanisms of these materials are highlighted. In addition, the relationship between the precipitate microstructure and bulk alloy properties, such as tensile, creep, corrosion, and welding properties, is analyzed. Finally, the opportunities and challenges faced by intermetallic-precipitation-strengthened steels in engineering applications are discussed. This chapter can serve as a reference guide for the development of advanced nano-precipitation-strengthened steels for structural applications. | Keywords: | Addictive manufacturing Corrosion resistance Intermetallic-precipitation-strengthened steel Mechanical property Precipitates |
