Abstract: The aim of this study is to incorporate collective psychological ownership (CPO) as psychological resources into the job demands-resources (JD-R) model and investigate the impact of CPO on turnover intention among social service workers. Using an online survey platform, a sample of 761 valid questionnaires was collected from full-time social service workers from 40 social service organizations in Guangdong, a coastal province in Southeast China. Controlling for psychosocial correlates of turnover intention in the JD-R model (i.e. job demands, job resources, burnout, and work engagement) as revealed by prior studies, ordinal logistic regression analyses indicated that CPO was negatively associated with turnover intention. The effects of CPO on turnover intention may inspire more discussion on incorporating psychological resources into the JD-R model for explaining turnover intention in organizational contexts and have important implications for retaining manpower in value-driven human-helping professions in particular.
