The design of lightweight wear linings is crucial in terms of the energy and resource efficiency of industrial furnaces and quality of final products. This review aims to present a systematic overview of the design, fabrication, properties, and application of lightweight wear lining refractories. The crucial properties and process routes of lightweight aggregates are summarised. Then, the structural design and factors that affect the refractories are described, and the application efficiency of the refractories is evaluated. Further, the scope for future work on this topic is presented.en_US
