The key problem of unscrambling a landform map by computer simulation is to describe and express the spatial relationship of contour lines. Aiming at this problem, the formative tree structure (contour tree) of graph theory was used to express the spatial relationship of contour lines based on recognizing the space and the classification of the contour lines. The method calculating the spatial relationship was put forward, and the experiment of forming hills from digital contour lines was carried out. The result shows that the above mentioned method is correct and effective.
Keywords: Graph theory
