A survey on health-promoting lifestyle among community-dwelling older people with hypertension in Macau

Abstract

目的: 研究旨在调查澳门社区老年高血压患者的健康生活方式,探讨其背景数据与健康生活方式之间的相关性。 方法: 以方便抽样的方式对澳门社区10家老人日间活动中心的119名老年高血压患者进行调查。 结果: 119名患者的健康生活方式得分为73～181(128.34+20.26)分。61.3%的患者生活方式不健康。男性(χ2=0.760,P=0.045)或年龄较大的患者(t=2.103,P=0.038)生活方式不健康更明显。 结论: 为了协助老年高血压患者在药物治疗的全程中配合健康的生活方式,我们建议在日后研究中找出影响他们健康生活方式的其他因素,为他们设计有论据支持的健康活动,以改善他们的生活方式。 Objective: It aimed to investigate health-promoting lifestyle among community-dwelling elderly people with hypertension in Macau and the associations of their lifestyles and socio-demographics. Methods: One hundred and nineteen patients were conveniently recruited from 10 community centres for the elderly in Macau. The researcher used the questionnaire to conduct face-to-face interview with each Patient for data collection. Results: The patients’ health-promoting lifestyle scores ranged between 73 and 181. Out of 119 patients, 61.3% had unhealthy lifestyle. More male patients(70%) had unhealthy lifestyle than female patients (59.6%) (χ2=0.760,P=0.045) and the patients with advanced age were more likely to have unhealthy lifestyle (t=2.103,P=0.038). Conclusions: In order to control blood pressure of Macau elderly people in the community more effectively,we need to further explore critical factors affecting their health-promoting lifestyle for designing evidence-based health interventions.
