Abstract: This study aims to trace the development of stative verbs, in particular psych verbs such as ‘love, desire, care’ into imperfective aspect markers, often denoting continuity and/or habituality.
The authors will also examine how and why some of these aspect markers also develop into negative attitudinal markers.
Description: The conference was hosted by the Department of Linguistics, Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University, the ASEAN Studies Center, the Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University, and the National Institute of Japanese Language and Linguistics (NINJAL), Japan.
