The paper analyzes the syntactic and functional differences of "youxinxin(有信心)" in serial verb construction and verb-object structure between Mainland Chinese and Hong Kong,Macau and Taiwan Chinese. The similarity and difference of "youxinxin(有信心)" in serial verb construction are analyzed in terms of polarity, modality, voice and subject. It is pointed out that Mainland Chinese does not have the verb-object structure of "youxinxin(有信心)",while Hong Kong,Macau and Taiwan Chinese do.It is argued that the difference is caused by semantic and syntactic transference of English in language contact.
