Title: | The Guardian of the Microorganism | Authors: | Li, Shaoyang Alvin | Issue Date: | Sep-2022 | Abstract: | Mr. Li Shaoyang Alvin's final year project was looking into the interaction between the biofilm produced by bacteria and the predator. The main goal was to elucidate how the biofilm protects the bacteria from the predator’s catch. The biggest difficulty was the time span. The experiment requiresd Alvin to observe the situation in the petri dish for a consecutive 6 hours. Better time management and more meticulous control were the solutions to the problem. For example, since the experiment required him to observe for 6 hours, then switching those 6 hours to his most energetic period of the day would definitely help. Luckily, this project was eventually awarded by the Royal Society of Biology in the UK, which is also the accreditation institute of his undergraduate program. | Keywords: | Applied Biology Bacterial Biofilm Antibiotic Resistance Scientific Research and Laboratory Techniques Healthcare and Medical Research |
