Title: | An Audible Landscape | Authors: | Lai, Mei Lam Kate | Abstract: | Ms. Kate Lai choses the programme ‘English Studies for the Professions’ at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University because language itself to her is very intriguing because without it, we cannot really communicate and share our knowledge; and as it is so essential to our lives. The first time she heard about the linguistic landscape was when she started her research. Linguistic landscape refers to all signs and symbols you can see in a public area. Signs and symbols can be languages, images, logos, graphs and colors. It concerns not only linguistics but also sociology, media studies and some other fields. She believes that her knowledge of it would be useful to future career or studies. | Keywords: | Linguistics and English Studies Linguistic Landscape Research Framework in Linguistics Communication Analysis Time Management in Academic Settings |
