dcterms.abstract | In this study, an interview survey was conducted with stakeholders playing different roles in the industry to collect relevant information and to solicit opinions of the stakeholders, to allow a holistic picture to be obtained about current practices of specialist work subcontracting in the building construction industry of Hong Kong, and the prevalent problems. Attempts made by parties in the private sector and by the government to help the industry address the problems were reviewed, which included the standard forms of contracts in use and the latest revisions made to the standard contracts; the introduction of the voluntary subcontractor registration scheme and the construction workers registration scheme; and the use of partnering as a risk management method in building construction projects. The need for a security of payment legislation was also reviewed. Furthermore, a review of overseas practices was conducted. | - |
