The book, House of Dreams: Zhoushan 2018–2022, serves as a comprehensive overview of the four-year research-through-design project developed between 2018 and 2022 in Zhoushan village, Henan Province, China. Put together by Peter Hasdell (Insitu Project), the book illustrates the methods and outcomes of a design-led social innovation approach to rural revitalization. The book serves as a detailed reference, showcasing the development of a model for sustainable community development, and circular economy strategies that can be replicated in other rural communities. It provides details of the integrated implementation of three core frameworks—Social and Community, Solidarity Economy, and Architectural and Environmental—designed to contribute to greater community resilience across these key parameters. This co-design and co-construction project specifically aimed at cultural recovery, including the recovery of traditions and skills through cooperative trades and the recovery of collective memories.en_US
