IoT System in Hotel Industry: A Case of The Peninsula Hong Kong

Abstract

<p align="justify">The Peninsula’s SOTI MobiControl IoT system lets guests control in-room functions via tablets, personalizing experiences and enabling targeted upselling. However, while enhancing convenience and loyalty, concerns arise over privacy due to data collection without consent and vulnerability to cyber-attacks, as many IoT devices lack default encryption, risking guest information security. <p align="justify">半岛酒店（The Peninsula）引入了 SOTI MobiControl 物联网（IoT）系统，使宾客能够通过客房内的平板电脑自主控制房内各项设施，在提供个性化体验的同时，也便于酒店进行针对性的增值销售。然而，在提升便利性与忠诚度的同时，该系统也引发了隐私担忧，因为存在未经授权收集数据的风险。此外，由于许多物联网设备缺乏默认加密保护，系统容易受到网络攻击，从而危及宾客的信息安全。
