Title: | Assessment of vibrational non-equilibrium effect on detonation | Authors: | Shi, Lisong | Degree: | Ph.D. | Issue Date: | 2018 | Abstract: | This thesis examines the effects of vibrational non-equilibrium on hydrogen detonation by solving the reactive Euler equations by the conservation element and solution element method. Detailed hydrogen reaction chemical kinetics are implemented, the Landau-Teller model is applied to solve the vibrational relaxation rates, Park's two-temperature model and coupled vibration- chemistry-vibration model are used to evaluate the extent of vibrational- chemical coupling. It is demonstrated that the vibrational-chemical coupling process exerts a considerable influence on the one-and two-dimensional detonation structures. A series of comparisons with available experimental data and simulated results in vibrational equilibrium is presented to highlight the importance of incorporating vibrational non-equilibrium in detonation simulations. | Subjects: | Hong Kong Polytechnic University -- Dissertations Detonation waves Vibration |
