The hydrogel material provided by the invention comprises hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose modified by a methacrylic acid group. The hydrogel material is a derivative obtained by modifying hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose with a methacrylic acid group, can drive physical entanglement to form a three-dimensional network structure in a water environment, realizes in-situ gelation, is not influenced by environmental temperature change in the gelation process, and is suitable for delivery of most drugs, so that the drug release duration is long. The drug delivery system provided by the invention comprises hydrogel for loading a drug, and the hydrogel is prepared from the hydrogel material or the hydrogel material prepared by the preparation method.
