Abstract: In a mask (100), ambient air is filtered by a disposable surgical mask (180) to form breathable air. The mask (100) has a frame (150) having a cavity (151) therein for storing breathable air for a user to breathe. A temperature conditioning unit (110) mounted to the frame (150) provides air conditioning of the breathable air by drawing the breathable air from the cavity (151) to a heat exchanger (425) using a fan (421), the heat exchanger (425) being in contact with the thermoelectric module (410) to transfer heat to the outside of the frame (150) by a thermoelectric effect to cool the drawn breathable air and condense water vapor therein. The condensed water vapor is trapped by a heat exchanger (425). Cool, dry, breathable air is released back to the chamber (151), providing thermal comfort to the user during breathing. A heat sink (432) in contact with the thermoelectric module (410) is used together with the fan (431), thereby efficiently dissipating heat from the thermoelectric module (410) to the outside of the frame (150).
