《FAST Research Insight》第十四集 - 梁志華博士解釋自旋電子學的技術

自旋電子學是電子學的一個新興領域,它並非利用電子的電荷,而是利用了自旋的特質。理大應用物理學系副系主任及副教授梁志華博士研究的自旋電子器件能有效地提高電腦硬件的數據傳輸和儲存容量,此技術更可應用到太空科技及醫療科技,例如檢測腦電波和癌細胞。自旋電子器件比傳統電子器件耗能更少,運作速度更快,性價比亦更高。

With the unique nature of electrons – “negatively charged” and “autospin”, spintronic technology is one of the emerging fields for the next-generation nanoelectronic devices. Dr Dennis Leung, Associate Head and Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Physics, conducted research on spintronic devices which can effectively enhance the data transmission and increase storage capacity of the computer hardware. They also have wide applications on space technology and medical technology such as monitoring the brain waves and cancer cells. It is possible to construct spintronic devices with low power consumptions, and high operation speed that are cheap and robust.
