PolyU Science Research Impact 2022 EP07 – Infectious Disease Modelling for Disease Control

傳染病是全球引致死亡的重要原因之一,對公共衞生的威脅不容忽視。了解傳染病的傳播模式和特徵,對於制定有效的防疫措施至關重要。

理大理學院何岱海博士及研究團隊通過分析流行病學數據建立出新的數學模型,能有效預測疫情爆發並找出最佳的疫情控制措施。2019新冠状病毒病爆發期間,何博士的數據分析對制定保持社交距離和病床供應等公共衛生措施起了重大的參考作用。

Infectious diseases are one of the major causes of death globally, and the threat to public health cannot be ignored. Understanding their transmission patterns and characteristics is critical to formulating effective epidemic prevention measures.

PolyU Faculty of Science researcher Dr He Daihai and his research team have analysed epidemiological data to develop new mathematical models which help predict pandemic outbreaks and identify the best control measures for infectious diseases. During the COVID-19 outbreaks, Dr He’s research has contributed significantly to planning control measures, such as social distancing and hospital bed capacity.
