Abstract: An unprecedented synthetic strategy was used for the preparation of nitrido ruthenium(VI) porphyrins such as 1. The structure of 1 features a Ru-N (nitrido) distance of 1.656(5) Å. Reactions of nitrido ruthenium(VI) porphyrins with silyl enol ethers or indan, in the presence of trifluoroacetic anhydride, afforded N-trifluoroacetyl amines in up to 84% yield.
