By analyzing the materials presented by two opposing sides involved in a recent dispute over the history of the Overseas Chinese Normal School in Hà Nội, this article shows the triangular relationship of the Chinese community in North Vietnam, the North Vietnamese government, and the Chinese government. The author examines how the rise and fall of the normal school, and the confrontations between the two sides involved in the dispute, were closely related to changes in the Sino-Vietnamese relationship.en_US
