Abstract: The control of the vibration of two side-by-side cylinders in a cross flow has been experimentally studied using micro actuators. Three spacing ratios, T/d = 1.2, 1.8 and 3.0, are studied, where T is the center-to-center distance, and d is the diameter of the cylinder. The experiments show that the micro excitation can effectively reduce the flow-induced vibration for T/d of 1.2 and 3.0, when the excitation frequency and actuator location are optimized.
