Abstract: Hong Kong landfills will to be filled up in few years, while a fully implemented recycling scheme is missing from this city's agenda. A mobile application called RecycHongs, co-designed between the design team and Hong Kong residents offers a solution. While using its geo-mapping function, users will mark the location of recycling facilities and bins. They will also populate the application with other useful information on repurposing and zero-waste life. Rewards system will be in place for the contributors as well as for notable recycling and sustainable behavior. This application will become a platform that facilitates social participation and offers agency to all stakeholders by gamifying their sustainable behavior.
