Abstract: This chapter aims to identify the characteristics of transit tourists in Hong Kong. It shows that the USA, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, and India are the major generating regions of transit tourists. Transit tourists have more than 10 hours of transit-wait at the Hong Kong International Airport before connecting flights to the destination regions. Significant differences exist in travel and trip-breaking patterns among transit tourists from different generating regions. This study not only provides insights on the spatial movement of transit tourists but also serves as a prologue to future discussions on transit tourism, an emerging phenomenon of urban tourism.
