In this paper, computer image processing and analysis techniques are applied to extracting the image features from knitted fabric are meters, such as coverning ratio of yarn covering ratio of fuzzy fiber yarn gray number of surface fibers, etc. These parameters can be used to evaluate the appearance of knitted fabric objectively. In order to prove the effectiveness and reliability of using them, some judges are invited to evaluate the fuzzy status of fabric samples subjectively, then compare the results of objective evaluation with them of subjective one. Results from the data analysis show that image analysis techniques are effective to evaluate the appearance of knitted fabrics, which can extract the reliable parameters for applying artificial technique to optimize the washing process of knitted fabric.
