This presentation aims at 1.To elucidate how political candidates use effective communication strategies to compete for votes in election debates 2.To examine candidates’ use of rhetorical questions in the 5 televised Hong Kong legislative council election debates in 2012 3.To further examine how candidates use rhetorical yes/no and wh-questions to challenge their political rivals
