Objectives of this presentation -to examine the use of copulas as auxiliary verbs that encode not only tensebut also person-agreement marking in Odia -to understand how these postverbal and clause-final auxiliary copulas are preposed to either clause-medial or clause-initial position to serve as focus particles, the latter type often interpretable as an attitudinal focus particle with negative valence
