Abstract: Long queue at the passengers’ waiting lines have been troubling tourists since the wide use of air transport. Passengers have to wait for a long period of time at the queue before they can access to the airline service counters. This is a global phenomenon, as well as a problem seen in airports around the world. Concerned with this issue, this project is aimed to investigate the passengers’ waiting lines at airport check-in counters through quantitative analysis. To understand the queuing structure and model currently existing in the airport, and to devise plans and propose solutions for airlines to solve this globalized problem. It is hoped that with reduced queuing time at the service counters, the overall performance of airlines can be improved, thus the competitiveness and reputation of Hong Kong Airport.
