dcterms.abstractA media for fermentation of active sludge in wastewater treatment plant of Guangzhou Siming Yantang Diary Corporation were selected through L9(34) table of orthogonal arrays by designing nine different prescriptions for 3 elements, i.e. C, N and P, with 3 levels and the extracts from the cells of the sludge were tested through a series of physical and chemical examinations in present study. The results showed that the optimum culture medium for fermentation gained through various evaluations contained glucose of 8 g, (NH4)2SO4 of 0.25 g, and 0.25 g of KH2PO4 /liter of water. The extracts from the cells were qualitatively identified to be mainly poly-3-hydroxybutyrate by 1H NMR tests, while their concentration was quantitatively to be over 70.61% by GC test. It was also found that their melting points were between 182.2—188.9℃, higher than PHB standard.-
