Abstract: The fashion industry relies very much on the dummy/mannequin for many of the tasks in apparel design, fitting and alteration and size gradation. However, traditional dummies are costly and space consuming. Besides, these front-end processes are normally time consuming and labor intensive. With the invention of a robotic mannequin system called "i.Dummy", solving the problem of having multiple-sized dummies is a reality. Taking a step forward, using digital body-mapping technology to map a 3-dimension body and connecting it real-time to a virtual model, the style to be designed and be performed on the body itself. Using the mannequin system will allow body shapes and dimension to be obtained accurately and promptly. It is aimed to generate the required patterns after a process of pattern flattening is performed.
