Abstract: A new type of instrument Fabric Touch Tester was used to test cotton fabric with different water contents. The influence of water content on the handle properties of cotton fabric was studied. Results showed that water content had significant effect on the bending properties, compressive properties and thermal properties of cotton fabric. With the increase of water content from 8% to 23%, the warp banding strength was decreased and the weft banding was increased; the compression recovery strength was decreased and the maximum heat flux value was increased.
