Huang(2008)discusses ’syntax-semantics mismatches’ in Chinese under a generative approach.Contrary to Huang’s(2008)generative analysis,Shen(2007)proposes an ’analogical blending’ explanation. In this paper,it is claimed that the apparent mismatches are derived by gerundive nominalization based on a comparative study of Chinese dialects, according to which the lack of some ’syntax-semantics mismatches’ in southern dialects is due to a parameter of movement associated with the derivation of gerundives, arguing against the ’analogical blending’.-
