Abstract: A new algorithm for precise absolute ionosphere delay estimation is introduced in this paper. The algorithm is based on GPS network solution, satellite by satellite ionosphere modeling and precise point positioning (PPP). Instead of modeling the ionosphere for the whole observed space by most existing methods, in our approach, only the ionosphere along the satellite tracks is modeled and the double difference ambiguity determined from the GPS active network are adopted as a constraint. Therefore, the relative ionosphere delays between different orbit tracks can be precisely determined. However, a bias may still exists in the estimated ionosphere delays. Then the GPS precise point positioning technique with IGS satellite orbit and satellite clock products is used to subtract the satellite-receiver related bias. As a result, the absolute ionosphere delays can be estimated more precisely. A real GPS data set has been used to test the models presented in this paper and it has proved that the algorithm is efficient.
