Abstract: Table tennis for the disabled has become increasing popular in Hong Kong, as the sport has won a lot of prizes in international competitions. However, complains on the sportswear are very common among the disabled table tennis athletes. Major complaint areas include the fabric used, ease of wear ability, and cutting. Therefore, amendments to the conventional sportswear are needed for the disabled athletes of this sport. A special sportswear was designed for them that could help to enhance improvement. This project aimed to study the clothing requirement for sportswear of the physically disabled table tennis athletes and to develop a new set of sportswear. The sportswear performance was studied subjectively and objectively. With the help of the table tennis team of the Hong Kong Sports Association for the Physically Disabled(HKSAP), the new uniform was developed according to the needs and requirements of the athletes. Three questionnaire surveys and a thorough laboratory test were carried out. Based on the findings, suitable fabrics were sources and the best one was chosen for the development of the new sportswear. The new sportswear was tested and evaluated, and satisfying results has been obtained.
