Abstract: This paper reports a study on bra design principle based on human factors. A series of experiments have been carried to measure the breast figures of Chinese women, including measurements of breast size, shape, skin deformation under static postures and dynamic body movements. These human factors are critical in the structural design of bra. The changes in figure and shape when a woman is wearing a bra have also been analyzed for the purpose to design healthy, comfortable and beautiful bra. The work aims to provide the theoretical basis of bra structural design and pattern development.
