Abstract: Functional garment needs to provide a thermal balance between the heat generated by body while engaging in a sport and the heat released into the environment. Normal garments do not always fulfill this requirement. In order to improve the thermal functions of normal garments the Phase Change Materials (PCMs) are used. In this paper a computer simulation of the thermal smart garments with PCMs is developed. On the basis of the finite volume difference scheme the thermo-regulating effect of PCMs is derived. The optimized PCM quantity is determined with the level of activity and the duration of the garment use. A Moving Coordinate Method has been developed to solve the free boundary problem due to the phase change of PCM.
