Abstract: A WDM PON system based on single sideband (SSB) modulated subcarrier multiplexed signal for downlink data transmission is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The scheme reduces the effect of Rayleigh backscattering (RB) and allows self-heterodyne signal detection at the ONU for high order modulation and chromatic dispersion (CD) equalization.
