Abstract: Optical functional fabrics belong to a very important division of functional fabrics. The optical functional fabrics have been widely studied during the last two decades. Some of the optical functional fabrics can sense and react to the environment stimulus, so they are smart textiles. Some of them would generate electricity when exposed under the Sunlight. Some of them have very beautiful colors even without any dye/pigment, so they are environmental friendly. Some of them can translate the harmful ray into healthful light, so they are of healthcare. Some of them can brighten, so they can capture attention and be decoration or safety. The optical functional fabrics have become more and more important in the textile industry. The recent developments of optical functional fabrics are reviewed with examples
