Abstract: Colour Perception is directly influenced by illuminating light source as different spectral power distributions (SPD) of light sources influence the colour appearance of surface colour. For effective colour control and colour communication, the chosen illuminating light source is necessary. In this study, the quality variation of D65 Simulator on visual evaluation was investigated. The SPD of five D65 simulators were measured by spectroradiometeric measurement. The quality of these D65 simulators were quantified in terms of colour rendering index in CIE 13.3 method, visible range metamerism index in CIE No.51 method and illumination in ASTM D1729-89 method. Eight colour samples in No.13.3 general colour rendering index and 77 textile metamers were used to explore the chromaticity shift and instrumental colour difference using SPD of CIE illuminant D65 and D65 simulator respectively. The findings stated that different D65 simulators influenced visual assessment.
