Abstract: Shear behaviour is one of the most important characteristics that contribute to the performance and appearance of woven fabrics. In this paper, a model established by Kilby is first used for the prediction of fabric shear rigidity in different directions. Based on the existing literature, strong linear relationship is found between shear rigidity (G) and shear hysteresis at two angles (2HG and 2HG5). The model for the prediction of fabric shear rigidity is applied to the shear hysteresis. All Experimental data are compared with the theoretical results and presented in the form of polar diagram. From results obtained in the present study, distinct maxima are presented in the polar diagram of fabric shear properties between the warp and weft directions.
