Abstract: It looks that there are a number of issues to be further clarified in terms of risk assessment criteria adopted in the discussed paper for either understanding or using the AHP model for construction safety appraisal. This discussion focuses on the relevancies related to some missed criteria, including natural conditions, structural safety, construction workers, and international collaborations, which are regarded as dominant issues in safety risks assessment according to specific characteristics of construction project cluster for the Beijing 2008 Olympics and the definition of construction safety given by the Council of Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC 2007), from which the practice of construction safety is prescribed as the application of safe construction practice as it relates to the work site and affects the public, neighboring property, and public utilities.
