Abstract: A new method is developed for the modeling distribution parameter three-phase transmission line. The dynamic phasor model is based on the time-varying phasor, which not only breaks the quasi-stationary assumption, but also overcomes the maximum step size constraint of regular transmission line, so it can be used to analyze the fast electromagnetic transient phenomena at a higher speed. A novel large step size model based on the dynamic phasor is also introduced to accelerate simulation speed further. The simulation results of electromagnetic transient (EMT) models and dynamic phasor (DP) models demonstrate that the DP models not only can achieve a very good accuracy and but also are very efficient and hence could be practically used for fast dynamic simulation of modern large-scale power systems.
