Abstract: The Western Harbour Tunnel is a two tube, three-lane harbour crossing joining the Hong Kong Island and Kowloon Peninsular. This paper studies the tunnel lighting performance by measurement and opinion survey. It also uses the sector flux transfer theory to calculate the average illuminance and luminance on the surfaces in the tunnel. The calculated result is compared with the measurement and other current design methods and relatively good agreement is obtained.
