Abstract: This paper presents a study of the materials removal mechanisms in Fuild Jet Polishing (FJP) based on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling method. A CFD model has been established to analyze the hydrodynamic conditions in FJP. Some preliminary simulation and polishing experiments have been conducted to better understand the effect of some important parameters on the material removal rate in the FJP process. The simulation results are found to agree reasonably well with the experimental results.
