Abstract: In an electricity market, power suppliers can maximize profits through strategic bidding, while it is also necessary for regulators to investigate such strategic bidding behavior so as to identify possible market power abuse and to limit such abuse by introducing appropriate market management rules. A considerable amount of literature has been produced on this subject in recent years, and this motivates our effort to make a comprehensive literature survey in this paper based on more than 30 research publications. It is expected that this survey will provide access to state-of-the-art analysis, and well-documented material for researchers and engineers about this important research topic. This project is jointly supported by Research Fund of Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Zhejiang Provincial Foundation for Outstanding Young Scientists.
