Abstract: This paper investigates the influence of geometrical shape loads and incremental stage loads on the scaffold systems with different formwork configurations under fresh concrete loads. It was found that the mixed scaffold system with wooden posts 1.7 m in length at top had a buckling resistance of only half of the bare scaffold system. The largest deformation occurs near the top of the bottom scaffold for the bare scaffold systems and at the position between the bottom of the wooden post and the top of the highest scaffold of the mixed scaffold system. Both systems buckle on the in-plane direction of the scaffolds. The critical load of the 3-bay 5-row 3-story mixed scaffold system is 275 kN under uniform load and this buckling resistance is insignificant under geometrical shape loads and incremental stage loads.
