Abstract: In this paper, a new load-equivalent model for flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) device embedded in power system is proposed for power flow (PF) and optimal active power flow (OPF) calculation. The FACTS devices and the control objectives may be represented by specified-value loads or voltage-dependent loads. The power flow of the power system embedded with FACTS devices can then be solved with slight modification of the conventional power flow program to include the effects of the introduced equivalent loads. The derivation of the model and its application are illustrated in the paper to show the applicability of the method.
